In the time between visits to the monuments, you can stroll through the narrow winding streets in the old town where you will find a variety of restaurants, shops with typical articles of the region.
Discover the famous “Piriquita” Tea House, known for its delicious regional pastry called "Travesseiros de Sintra", a must for anyone visiting Sintra.
Also known as Paço Real, the Palace was founded by the Arabs and later became the residence of the Portuguese royal family from the 12th century. It is unique in that it features its 33-meter-tall twin chimneys and contains collections of Hispanic-Moorish tile and decorative arts. It was in Paço Real, in the courtyard of the Audience, that Dom Sebastião heard the first reading of the epic poem Os Lusíadas by Luís Vaz de Camões himself.
Visit the National Palace of Sintra and marvel at the Hall of Coats of Arms, considered the highest expression of King D. Manuel I's ideal of monarchy (1469-1521). The nobility was represented here by the coats of arms of the 72 most important families.
Palace and Quinta da Regaleira, historical and cultural monument that will dazzle you for its mysterious and passionate architecture.
